life is nothing, but Christ is all

Hanging out with some friends of mine this weekend I’ve realized an important truth that’s been in my head for a long time. As I had time to sit down and actually think through some things, and write it down.

What is the primary focus for a Christian?

Christians today are consumed with changing peoples ideologies, their political views, and their religions. And their focus is so shallow, that as I look at it, more damage is being done than actual progress for the sake of the gospel.

An example of this is: If a non-Christian supports homosexuality, and lets say a Christian person confronts them saying “that it is wrong and that I don’t believe in it” and just argues and debates with them, saying how “unnatural” it is, or the effects and the dangers of it is.

And lets say the Christian convinces this person to come on “her side”, and accept her view of the world.

What now?

How productive was that argument and did she actually “win”?

All is vanity without Christ. Having the “right” political views, and the “right” morals and ideologies gets you nowhere. If Christ is not the center of your life it doesn’t matter if you’re a republican or a democrat, straight or gay, pro-choice or pro-life. You will still go to hell if you have all the “right” morals and no Christ.

There is only one thing that separates the Christians and non-Christians in this world, and it’s that Christians have their sins forgiven. Nothing else, we all have rejected God and all run from him. All of us are sinners by choices and by birth.

To show Christ and share the gospel (death burial and resurrection of Christ, Jesus) is what were all about as Christ followers. And when someone meets Jesus there lives will change dramatically through the work of the Holy Spirit.

ALL WE ARE CALLED TO DO IS TRUST AND RELY ON JESUS AND EVERYTHING ELSE WILL BE ADDED.

What does it look like for you to trust and rely on Jesus?

  1. I realized alot of this during some intense work on referendum 71. I still think its good for us to be involved in politics as citizens.. but it should be kept far from Christ. He was not a republican or democrat, Hes a king.

good word. To obey God is to trust Him. I believe God is who He says He is. To trust God is to be quiet on the inside, for me. To stop trying to create my own fruit due to fear of not producing enough naturally for Him, or becasue of Him. To trust Him, for me, is to rest my thoughts in Him, to give up my efforts and just let it happen, whatever that is… God know His ways… that’s enough for me to let go. Faith is simple. It’s just that.
